How Can We Confirm Hormone Problem Without Doing Hormone Check?

Hi, I am 61 years old. Recently visited my doctor for overall just feeling bad. Not feeling at all like myself, feeling like I am in a fog, very tired, lack libido, no interest in sex at all dr. ran a series of blood work test, WBC, , did a Hepatic Function Panel, T4, TSh All came back as normal. Consulted me that is was probably hormonal, stress fatigue. Prescribed Estradiol 0.5 mg. My question is without doing a hormone check how does she know this is going to help? I don t know if I am low in estrogen and high in progesterone or vice versa. And how long ami going to take this. My sister had breast cancer and she told me it had to do with her making to much estrogen. This scares me.

Hello,
I have carefully gone through your query and i am trying to give you some more informations.
As you mentioned, you are 61 year old and propably about 10 years in menopause. If so, the estrogen level should be low.
What is more important is the fact that you do have a family member diagnosed with breast cancer.
It is true that the estrogen is not recommended in these cases, unless you do the genetic exams to exclude that you are a carrier of the mutaion.
Hope the information will help.
Kind regards,
Dr.M.Guni
