How Can Vitamin D Deficiency And Weight Gain Be Treated?
Hi. I had a hysterectomy with right ovary removal due to endometriosis at age 29. That was 10 yrs ago. I had more endometriosis removed from my left ovary 1 1/2 years later to try to keep it as healthy as possible. I should have had the left ovary removed since but due to financial issues I haven t done so. I ve gained 50lbs these past 2 years and last year learned I have a pretty significant vitamin d deficiency. I suffer from depression so ive assumed that was the problem. Diet and exercise arent helping and im at my heaviest weight ever.I finally made an appt with my gyn next month to discuss hormones but I m nervous about these meds causing cancer as I have a strong family history of it. Are there any natural alternative s I could discuss with my doctor & would this help with weight gain?
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service. I reviewed your query and here is advise. I think you should take vitamin D supplements in order to fill the vitamin D deficiency. Your doctor will determine the amount of it you should take according to the blood analysis. It will also improve metabolism making it less difficult for you to lose weight. Also meet a dietician to help you find a hypochloric diet. Also continue to exercise. You gynecologist is the only one to evaluate the condition of your ovary and is better to keep it due to your young age.
Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
