How Can Vaginal Thrush Be Treated?

Hello, my husband and I are trying for our second and I ve got the symptoms of thrush. Not as badly as last month when it began during all the trying(probably because of the trying!) and I managed to wait until I knew I wasn t pregnant before using Canestan cream. It cleared it up (or so I thought) but has reappeared on day 11 of my cycle. I m on day 12 now. Is it too late to use the pessary? Will it affect the sperm? Symptoms are minor compared to last time so I can wait it out and continue iusing the cream, or does that affect sperm too? Internet threads are contradictory and NHS direct weren t much help. Many thanks, Alison

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As of now, you can use clotrimazole lotion to cleanse your genitals. If symptoms persist you can consult a gynaecologist and start oral antifungals also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
