How Can Urine Infection With Pus Cells In Urine Be Treated?

Doctor, I am suffering from urine infection for the last 2 months and on antibiotics which includes 32 IV injections. During treatment my pus cells are under control, but when on low dose of antibiotics or discontinued, pus cell are increasing to 80-100. Urine culture shows more than 1,00,000 e coli bacterial. Why this is happening? Is there no permanent cure for this infection?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, the issue sounds to be some pathology in terms of producing recurrent bacterial infection as stasis of urine, backflow in terms of ureter reflux, incomplete voiding or others.
* In my clinic, I recommend a thorough clinical evaluation with CT IVP, lab tests panel of serum creatinine and others for the definite diagnosis of the cause of recurrence of UTI and manage rather than treatment with culture and waiting for the second infection to occur.
* Monoclonal antibodies against particular agents are best remedies in your case and the scope of same must be discussed with your treating urologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
