How Can Tularemia Be Treated?
Hi I was golfing and got bit by a deer fly. I was infected with Francisella tularensis which lead to Tularemia. I was started on Cipro 500 mg Bid I am into day 8 of treatment and much better, but not 100% . Is this the correct dose of cipro and how long should I be on it?

I am sorry you got infected with Francisella tularensis and suffered from Tularemia. Usually, we do treat tularemia with antibiotics of the aminoglycoside group (e.g. streptomycin, gentamycin, doxycycline) for at least 10 days.
Sometimes, we do prescribe tetracycline for up to 14 days. With regards to Ciprofloxacin, the dosage is correct but treatment should continue up to 10 days.
If still no changes, should take another antibiotic of another group.
