How Can Thyroid Dysfunction And Diarrhea Be Treated?

I have had my thyroid act up now and then. Have had loose bowels after breakfast at least 6 out of 7 mornings for the past 3 weeks. Eyes seem like they are slightly burning or dry, trouble sleeping and have lost weight. So I m thinking I need to check with my Dr. about my thyroid. Also have had a few Charlie Horses in my calf which I haven t ever had before and sometimes I am getting cramps in my fingers.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms suggestive of hyperthyroidism condition in which excess thyroid hormone secreted. I suggest you to investigate with free T4 and serum TSH estimation. If you are having hypothyroidism history and taking levothyroxine for that than it can be high dose levothyroxine induced hyperthyroidism. Revert back with reports to guide you further and mention your previous thyroid history for giving more comment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
