Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Cortisone may won't cause arthritis or unless you have developed allergy to this drug. It may act as a anti-inflammatory then reduce the pain. Possible side effects are peptic ulcer disease or psychosis or weight gain, aggravate hypertension and diabetes, osteoporosis, fluid retention, etc. Please check other possibilities like infection or osteoarthritis or anemia etc. Use NSAIDs like Naprosyn or Ibuprofen or Indomethacin for pain. Please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
