How Can Swollen Lymph Node On The Back Of The Neck Be Treated?

I took my six year old son to the doctor one month ago because he has a swollen lymph node at the back of his neck. The doctor said that since he had been sick a week before, it was normal and it should disappear in a couple of weeks or so. Now it has been 4 weeks since that appointment and the lymph node is still swollen. He also has a submandibular node that is now very swollen. Not sure what to do.

Hi sir,
Thanks for the question.
Lymph nodes in the neck commonly swell when you have sore throat or infections in your oral cavity.
Have a look in his mouth ask and check for dental caries, enlarged tonsil in the back of the mouth.Ask whether he had sore throat recently. If you find a focus of infection or sore throat consult a doctor/dentist and put him on a short course of antibiotics(I suggest amoxicillin 250mg thrice a day for five days)
If his problem still persists he may require some blood investigation and in some rare cases biopsy of the lymph node(In your case I think these are not necessary) to rule out some other diseses.
Wish you all the best.
Thank you.
