How Can Swollen Knee Be Treated?

My daughter suddenly developed a badly swollen knee, with a throbbing blood vessel running over it. She wrapped cloth around it overnight and this morning the swelling was down, but it was blue and the blood vessel is still visible, just not protruding and throbbing as much. She didn t fall, she didn t hit her knee, it suddenly happened

probably superficial phlebitis/thrombophlebitis. treat with cold water to alleviate pain and swelling,elevate the leg,rest(since it is close to deep veins),analgetics when needed,100mg ASA daily,try venoprotectors (avaricon,phlebodia),topical ungents like hepathrombin ......def. diagnostic is color doppler ultrasound of the leg.
