Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a contusion on my fingers on left hand for about a month. I have had an x-ray done and no fractures were evident. I was told to ice, elevate and rest when I can. The pain has not gone away and there is no swelling? Should I go see a hand specialist?
After your hand injury, a month back, the swelling has resolved . This is good. The pain is persisting since the finger joints may be stiff. You may place your hand in a basin of warm water and gently move the joints of the hand and close and open your fist. Please do this at least for 10 minutes twice a day. In about one weak, the pain should resolve. Then to strengthen the hand muscles, you ma squeeze a rubber ball again at least 10 to 20 minutes twice a day.
