Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My upper lip is extremely swollen after crying it's not sore just very big that you can just about see my bottom lip, it's happened to me once before years ago but this time it's even bigger! I have take antihistamines, is there anything else I can do & will the swelling reduce?
Swelling of the lip can be probably due to either injury or allergy.. If it is not sore at all then it is probably due to allergic reaction.. If you have already taken antihistamine then you can do cool compresses over the lips and drink plenty of water.. Avoid pressing or biting the lips.. However you can take another dose of anti allergic after specific time range depending on the drug you have taken.. In case if the swelling progress on tongue or throat and cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing immediately consult an Emergency room..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
