How Can Swelling And Bruising On The Knees Be Treated?

I fell on my knees getting out of an suv in a parking lot 1 week ago. My knees were bruised. The discoloration is slowly going away and there is very little swelling but my left knee is still somewhat painful. I can walk fine but my leg throbs when standing. Is there anything I can do in the interim?

Hello, From the given description, it appears that there is no serious injury. Any injury to bone/joint takes a bit longer to go away, particularly the pain. It also depends on the weight of the person. If one is heavier, then pain or problem can last a bit longer. Apply ice packs to it regularly on parts which have no abraded skin. That should control pain and swelling.
