How Can Strep Throat Infection Be Treated?

What is the best antibiotic for strep throat? I have had a BAD sore throat and mild laryngitis, one degree fever -- all that lasted just 24 hours, and now I just have the BAD sore throat. I worry it is strep. I can t sleep. It really hurts to swallow.

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of strep throat which is bacterial infection and could be due to weakened immune system.

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once for proper examination and treatment. Doctor may prescribe proper course such as antibiotics (azithromycin) for 5 days.

Doctor may perform blood tests and throat swab test as well. For now do betadine gargles 2 to 3 times a day. Avoid intake of cold beverages. Take proper rest and take light food.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
