Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear caring son
Speech and eating problems after paralytic attack occurs due to weakness of facial and tongue muscles. If this was due to cerebrovascular accident then it takes many months to improve. You have to take her to physiotherapists daily for initial fifteen days. Feeding through ryles tube is safe. Foods which are easily digestible should be given. Accidental aspiration of food into chest cavity leads to cough so feeding should always given in sitting position.
