How Can Sore Throat Along With Cough And Headache Be Treated?

Hi...my son (21yrs) just called and said he has zero energy, has had a mild sore throat for weeks, when he coughs he gets a throbbing headache, mild nausea and has been hot/cold. Sounded horrible. Not sure if I should send him to ER or the school health center. (He is away at college)
