How Can Skin Dryness Be Treated?

As I am getting older, my skin is much dryer (scalp also - but I treat my scalp and hair weekly with my favorite oils and Proteins from the kitchen cubbord :) My face though, I sometimes have dry splochy places around chin and lower jaw which I treat mostly with a routine including Coconut oil and Liquid vitamin E. One thing I can not handle on my own is the severe red sploches, mainly in my t-cell area but covering my cheeks and I just hate it. Have a hard time covering it evenly with makeup and the fact that I have a terrible habit of constantly touching my face doesn t help matters. Is there an ingredient that will help me? The coconut butter is doing nothing. Thx so much

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concerns. Some advices that I can give to you are :
-Install a humidifier in your home to keep air moist. Set humidity at a constant 45% to 55%,
-Steamy Shower can help
-Use moisture-Robbing Soap
-I recommend that you towel-dry off but still leave the skin a little bit moist
-Use your hands or a soft washcloth instead of abrasive scrubs
-Rub on a rich cream containing ingredients such as soothing ceramide for sensitive skin, or urea, lactic acid, dimethicone etc
-Pick a moisturizer that incorporates a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
