How Can Sinusitis And Anal Itching Be Treated?

Good morning I have had a sinus infection and they put me on a antibiotic with potassium in it. I was afraid of getting a yeast infection and she suggested that I take a probiotic and after about 4 days of taking them I started getting anal itching I stopped the probiotic and the antibiotics I feeling a little relief but I m still irritated. Am I right to assume that the probiotics cause the anal itching and is there anything I can do to maximize my relief?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Some bacterial strains used in probiotic supplements can produce histamine inside the digestive tract of humans.
This process creates redness and swelling in the affected area, and can also trigger allergy symptoms such as itching.
You should take antihistamines tablet's and stop the probiotic.Instead you can eat yogurt that is a natural probiotic.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help.
Regards
dr.Dorina Gurabardhi
