How Can Sinusitis After A Cataract Surgery Be Treated?
I had cataract surgery 2 weeks ago, I believe I have a sinus infection a yellow discharge from my nasal passages. I have some clinamycin on hand I was prescribed after a dental procedure a couple of months ago, I have multiple drug allergies so avoid penicillan. Should I be worried about my eyes.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is unlikely that your cataract surgery has anything to do with or get affected by the sinusitis. Sinus infections are common and many people end up dealing with this.
While it is alright to use Clindamycin for an infection, you should not do that without a confirmed infection so as to prevent antibiotic resistance.
If you do take it, make sure you complete a full course of antibiotics. You could also use nasal drops like Oxymetazoline so as to decongest your nasal passages.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
