How Can Severe Pain In The Shoulders Be Treated?

A couple of weeks ago, I reached with my right arm to hug my wife like I do every morning. That morning, I had a sharp pain in my shoulder/shoulder blade region. I retracted my arm and the sensation went away. Since then, I have had severe pain in upper arm along the outer muscles of my bicep. Also radiates down my forearm. My index finger is now numb/tingling. Advil relieves the pain temporarily. Hard to get compfortable at night and almost impossible to sleep. I m thinking pinched nerve. Any thoughts or suggestions.
