I have had sever pain in my right leg for five months now. I thought at first I must have pulled a muscle in my calf but it has gradually moved up into my hip, still hurting in my lower leg as well. Its a throbbing, numbing sever pain like I have never felt before. I cant sleep at night or sit for long. My leg also will some what lock up. I m taking motrin all day everyday. There are alsp what feel like little knots as well on my leg. I need help?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Throbbing pain in Unilateral leg is mostly seen with deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and vericose veins. So better to consult vascular surgeon and get done clinical examination, venous and arterial doppler of affected lower limb. If it is DVT or vericose vein then surgical treatment is required. If both these dopplers are normal then get done MRI of lower lumber spine to rule out nerve root compression because this can also lead to similar pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
