How Can Severe Pain In The Hamstring Be Treated?

My hamstring has been bothering for weeks. Started when I had a cast on, now that my cast is off and I am trying to walk, I have A LOT of pain. Should I sleep with something under my knee to keep my leg bent? My doctor thinks the more I walk (or try to) the hamstring will get better. I want to see a PT. Have been doing stretches daily to help, but that seems to make it hurt more. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi i do care for your concern.
Definitely walking post removal of removing cast will help to regain mobility and functions back to normal.
If you have more pain then warm compression and topical painkillers will help a lot.
I would advise to consult your physiotherapist and get correct muscle relaxing exercise and follow that.
Limb elevation or changing the position will do little help.
Hope i have answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask.
Thank you.
