How Can Severe Pain And Swelling In The Chest Be Treated?

Hi fell of my bicycle 10 days ago. landed with chest on straight handlebars. Was winded and in pain. One breast very bruised with strange painful swellings. Expected it to improve. Although bruising now changing to yellow, swellings seem to be increasing. Also have some difficulty carrying things and opening jars etc. Is this something to be concerned about - or will it just heal? Jane (56)

General Surgeon 's  Response
Welcome to `Ask A Doctor` service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

* As per my surgical experience, the issue here is development of hematoma following injury and now it is having secondary bacterial infection into it.
* I strongly recommend to consult your PCP at earliest to get it cured before it worsens as this will require proper local care, systemic antibiotics, anti inflammatory drugs to be taken.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
