How Can Severe Numbness In The Lower Legs Be Treated?

Hello, I am a 39 year old male. I have an active job (oil delivery to houses), and I also train in boxing. I am in the best shape of my life presently, but my biggest concern is that sometimes while watching tv on the floor, I will sit on my knees. My lower legs will tend to fall asleep from this, and I am worried about the loss of circulation. Many times it takes up to an hour or two for my legs, especially left one, to feel normal again. Lately I have also noticed occasional numbness in my toes and hands. I am going to my PCP in a couple weeks but I would like to know if this is very serious as in possible blood clot(s)? I would doubt that I would be able to do the job and especially the high intensity training that I do if I had something major, but then again I know that professional athletes can get blood clots and other things too.
