Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 75 yr. old female having severe nighttime cramps in my legs. My doctor has me drinking lo cal Gatoraide which has added potassium (on it as a supplement to help with dehydration. My question: how much potassium do I need to take? Of course I will talk to my doctor when I see him this week. But, I d like to be prepared with some additional information as well. The cramps started after I began taking larger doses of calcium (OTC). Could that be a factor? Advise please, then I will have something to discuss with my doctor. Judith Hofer j
My opinion is that you should check your serum calcium level, or else serum electrolyte. Then start the treatment accordingly. Yes, low Sr. Calcium or high calcium level may cause the muscle cramp. Other reason is Vit. B complex deficiency.
Start taking tab Neurobion forte once a day for 30 days.
Hope this will help you.
Thank you.
