How Can Severe Knee Pain Be Treated?

Dear Dr Rynne, my mother has a right knee problem and she was injected with Synvisc about six months ago. It helped relieve the pain but now she is favoring the left knee and is developing problems in that one due to the fact she is now favoring the left one to keep her weight off the right one. What can be done to help the left knee?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are typical of arthritis. As of now, she can take analgesics like Tramadol for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedic and plan for knee replacement.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
