How Can Severe Itching On The Forehead Be Treated?

Eleven days ago, while at the dr. s office, he froze some beneign, pre-cancerous spots off my forehead. One was on top of my one eyebrow, right along the brow s edge, slightly among the hairs. I had no problems until 5 days ago, when the rash was driving me crazy with itching. The area also burned . I was putting vaseline on it all per dr. instructions. Three mornings ago I began waking up w/my eye almost swollen shut each day. As the day wears on the swelling disipates. Today I saw the dr. and was diagnosed w/possible Shingles or infection or both. I am taking, as of today, the medicines for both. However, the itching is driving me crazy! I try not to scratch but place my finger on the spot & push hard or rub gently. Is something like soda a solution to put on it to stop the itching or another household item?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

For Shingles symptoms you can use Acyclovir cream only to put on it and oral too but with doctor prescription only, may use also cetirizine oral for scratching but even with this medication symptoms will continue. I don't know what medication he has given to you but some Vitamin B will help you also to pass it quickly. Try not to touch it to evitate spreading the virus.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Suzana Zharri
