How Can Severe Insomnia Be Treated?

I have been taking Clonazapam for 2 years, 1 mg at night with Seroquel 25 mg. at night for sleep. I am not sleeping well anymore. My dr. told me to cut the Clonazapam in half, take the Seroquel 25 mg. and take Meletonin 10 mg. at bedtime and see how that works. I don t know if I will sleep well or at all at first. Will this take a long time to get me to sleep without the 1 mg. Clonazapam & instead taking half at night. I am at my wits end. Because of very tired when I get up in the morning & I am 70 years old and in good health otherwise.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Seroquel also causes drowsiness so the combination of seroquel with the melatonin along with the reduced clonazepam, should be able to help you.

The effect on you would only be known after you try the medication. If it does not work as you would like, your doctor may need to adjust it further.

I hope this helps
