How Can Severe Cough And Throat Pain Be Treated?

Hello, I have had a cough for about 2 weeks now. Initially started off with a cold because of weather change. I come from a relatively warm weather to the cold irish weather. With vaporub and medication, got rid of the cold and fever but was left with a dry cough. Now i have dry cough and cold cough at the same time. with fever, excessive phlegm and pain in the throat.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

You have a new infection (fever, excess mucus and sore throat) along with your previous dry cough.
These symptoms are usually due to viral infection.

Treatment would involve: (1) rest ,fluids,
(2) pain (for the throat) and fever medication such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. If you wish you can also use a local pain killer for the throat such as choloroseptic spray or covonia
(3)an antihistamine/decongestant combination would help with the excess mucus even if your nose is not congested.
Eg zyrtec d, allegra d, claritine d, benadryl d
