How Can Ringworm Infection On The Body Be Treated?

My son has what we thought was ringworm on his neck for over two weeks. We have washed sheets, towels and clothes in hot water almost every night to try and prevent spreading. We were treating the spot with over the counter athletes foot cream day and night. The past two days it has appeared to spread to his abdomen in what look like small chicken pox spots however they are not itchy and he s had all his immunizations. I should add that he s not a wrestler so he shouldn t be being exposed to it through sports.

Hello!

Thank you for trusting HCM!

First we need to examine the lesion whether it is a ring worm or pityriasis alba. Ring worm infection will respond to topical anti-fungal agents but pityriasis need local steroid.

For ring worm infection we can use Fluconazole or Clotrimazole tablets but it also depends on the weight of your child. Please consult your dermatologist. He will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care
