Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am asking this for my 13 year old niece. Should I be worried that I keep getting reaccuring bruises on my knees ? And, every time my knees come in contact with a hard floor, I get a bruise that lasts quite awhile. Is it something bad or just normal?
You say to be worried about your 13 years old niece who keeps getting reacurring bruises on her knees each time she gets in contact with the hard floor.
This is suggesting 2 main issues: - her blood vessels are fragile and get hurt easily: get her vit.C checked - she might be anemic: get a complete blood count, and check her iron deposits to rule them out.
If confirmed, supplements containing iron, folic acid, vit.C should be started.
Otherwise, she should apply cold compresses locally each time she gets hurt.
Hope this helps.
