How Can Recurrent Cold In A Child Be Treated?

My new Grandson, (B-day Dec 19) has heart trouble. Had open heart surgery @ 3 days old. Going home next week, hopefully. Big sister is 2 years old and I don t think I ve ever seen her without a runny nose. Bigger sister is 7 and brings things home from school. Mom is supposed to keep baby isolated from sick people. They are in a 2 bedroom cracker box of an apartment. (Maybe 800 square feet?) Any thoughts on keeping baby healthy without banishing big sisters?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

A recurrent cough and cold attack in children is due to low immunity. If your child suffers from these symptoms only at night it may be due to acid reflux. Give him an anti-allergy syrup and an antacid under medical supervision.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
General Surgeon
