Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m being treated for a second UTI. The first one was successfully treated with Bactrim. However, 5 weeks later I have another. My doctor wants me to take Cipro. I don t want to take it because of the recent FDA warnings. What are other options what would kill the same type of bacteria Cipro does.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I suggest you that get a culture and sensitivity of the urine done. Once the reports are in you can start the antibiotic, the bacteria is sensitive too. You can add UtiPac capsule (cranberry extract) after the course of antibiotic is over.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mukesh Sood
