Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm 20 years old. I have a great deal of dark-red blood in my stool. This has been happening for a few months now, and I don't have a doctor. I'm worried that it could be internal bleeding(although I have no real reason to believe this). Is there reason to be worried of immediate health problems, and is there any way to self-medicate?
Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Take the soft diet and regular exercise. Drink plenty of water and avoid spicy food and alcohol.
If you are constipated, take high fiber diet, and use syrup Lactulose 30 ml at night for five days. Please, consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
