How Can Rashes On The Body Be Treated?

Hello, my daughter is experiencing hives. Thinking this is from Vicodin she took for c section. Stopped taking it around 2 weeks ago, is on prednisone which helps, but still getting them intermittently. Would this be unusual to still be getting them after two weeks? Had been on Vicodin for two weeks previously.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Rashes on the body is appearing to be most probably due to allergic reaction.

The common causes can be allergy to any food and medications, soaps or detergents, skin cosmetics, leather, latex etc..

As the hives are still coming back after stopping intake of Vicodin then it is not probably due to Vicodin but due to some other allergen..

So my suggestion is that she should consult an Emergency room and get evalaated and a clinical examination can be done followed by an Allergy test to rule out the exact cause of symptoms..

For time being she can continue taking Prednisone and other anti-allergics and along with it apply Calamine lotion over the hives to soothe the skin..
Also doing cool compresses can help in relief..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
