Im am a 42 yr old woman and I have been dealing will painful puss lumps that will bleed for years under my arms and under my breasts, they never really go away and I have an open wound under my arm that smells. I have been to the doctor over the years but no one can really cure it or tell me what it is, they usually perscribe Keflex which will clear it but its not a long term solution have you any suggestions?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history you are having folliculitis, my treatment advice is -

1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin and Azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
