How Can Potassium Levels Be Kept Under Control?

I am having trouble controling my potassium. 5.5 My doctor changed my b.p. meds today to 10 mg. of amlodipine besylate. The lorsatan tartate 100 mg. seemed to be o.k. for the last two years. Why now? Do you think it could be the problem? My a1c is 6.6. thank you vonnie YYYY@YYYY

Well, most common causes of high potassium are medications, and you should see if there are some which are causing this. Also, some kidneys disorders may contribute as well and at the end, muscle damage. I think that you should take fursemid first and avoid high potassium food such as bananas, second you should see nephrologist and check your kidneys function and thirds,you need to regulate your potassium with diet.
