How Can Pneumonia Be Treated?

My fiancé had been sick for two months, during that time his nose would occasionally turn purple. Two weeks ago he was diagnosed with pneumonia. His medicine is gone, he is till having problems breathing and his nose will still turn purple. I was wanting to know if this is because he is not getting enough oxygen, does he need to go back to the doctor?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Surely he needs to be seen by doctor and x ray with blood investigations should be done. Pneumonia is infection of lung parenchyma and makes difficulty in breathing with fever and cough which should be treated with proper antibiotics and supportive Rx.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
