Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a throat infection and it hurts really bad. So today I was sucking on a popsicle and I tried pushing it down my throat to give my throat some kind of relief. I hit my Uvula and ever since I can feel it on the back of my tounge and it feels like I moved it out of place. Its making it hard to breathe. What should I do?
See uvula will come to its place soon within few minutes not to worry. It is hanging structure in the back of the throat and if you have pushed the swollen uvula you might feel a little discomfort but do not do this again.
You might transmit direct infection from the Popsicle to uvula. you can get treated with antibiotics to reduce the uvula size like Amoxicillin, Clavulanic Acid, Ofloxacin, Norfloxacin, etcetera, all will help to reduce the infection.
Do mouth gargling every day with hot water, take nebulization with mint, maintain oral hygiene and brush your teeth daily morning and night.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
