How Can Painful Ear Infection Along With Fatigue And Headache Be Treated?

I had an abcess five yrs ago next to my spine that i had a doctor fix; it returned 2 months ago and a friend pop it for me. It got infected but went away eventually. 1 month ago I had a sudden very painful ear infection, went to hospital, antibiotics were prescribed but not strong enough (allergy to penicillin) so I went again and stronger one seemed to work but as soon as I stopped them, my ear infection is trying to come back. I am tired, (nap once a day) stiff neck, swollen right neck gland, wake up with slight headache and now my eyes are crusted over in morning.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Ear infections are primarily treated conservatively with antibiotics.

If recurrent infections are there or antibiotic treatment is not effective, then surgery is performed by doing a Mastoidectomy.

I suggest consulting with your ENT surgeon or treating doctor with regards to this option.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pooja.Sanap
