I was diagnosed with cervical dystonia, by a neurologist, about 15 years ago. Since then it has only gotten worse, Right now I am experiencing extreme pain. My head is at 45 degree angle; people look at me funny. I don t go out much. The pain is the worse part. What can be done? I don t want to become addicted to pain meds.
Hello, Sir Welcome to healthcaremagic. I can certainly understand your concern. I have worked through your query in detail.
Cervical dystonia, also called spasmodic torticollis, which is definitely a painful condition which can occur most commonly in middle age.
This can be sometimes resolves without treatment, but sustained remissions are uncommon. I would suggest you to for Injecting botulinum toxin injection into the affected muscles , which often reduces the signs and symptoms of cervical dystonia. If not relieved with this surgery may be appropriate treatment
Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these treatments to you. Post your further queries if any. Thank you
