How Can Pain In The Right Leg Be Treated?

Hi! I was doing the splits with my right leg in front, and I hadn’t stretched a lot first. I went down and all of a sudden heard pops in my hamstring, but I can still walk on it. It hurts a little but I can still run on it, but I’m worried I might have injured it really bad and I don’t know what to do.

Thanks for contacting with your health concern

1. As I'm unable to examine you directly, thus according to your history of 'not warming up before an activity' it could be a Hamstring strain [injury to muscle or tendon], even then a thorough examination either by your primary care provider or by an orthopedic surgeon is mandatory since it could be a:

. musculoskeletal pain [muscle cramp, ligament/tendon tear, stress fracture/shin splints, hamstring strains],
. neurological [sciatica, nerve damage], or
. Vascular [DVT, infection], and although it can be treated at home, but if the pain is sudden, severe and persistent medical attention is necessary.

PS. one may check for electrolytes imbalance issues

2. The course of treatment will depend upon the cause of pain since if the individual does not seek treatment normal injury can become a long-term chronic problem, and make sure to always stretch and warm up before and after exercising
