My wife is on furosemide, klor-con, lipitor and is a type 2 diabetic taking metformin 500mg 1x/day. Although she has always had swollen feet, particularly the left foot, a couple of months ago all of a sudden her left food swelled up so much that she can hardly walk. Her uric acid level was measured recently as 9.8 (high). She found relief by the podiatric surgeon giving her an injection of cortisone in the left ankle - based upon an xray, he diagnosed the problem as osteo-arthritis of the foot (prior xrays show osteo-arthritis of the toes as well). A week later, she now has pain in the right foot (ankle & heel), and as a result can hardly walk. She took a renal sonogram & we will find the results tomorrow. What do you advise?
