How Can Pain In The Ribcage After An Injury Be Treated?

Hi I injured my rib by being stepped on by a bully. I have pain near my second rib, close to my sternum. My doctor said that I may have bruised my rib or damaged cartilage, although there is no apparent bruising (I don t bruise easily). Should I get an x- ray, for this pain has been persistent for six days? Otherwise what can I do to reduce pain?

Hi,

Aspirin-like drugs and taping the chest and heating pads are often used in rib injury. X-rays can document if there is a fracture and if there is if there are complications from it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
