How Can Pain In The Hips On The Right Side Be Treated?

I have pain in my right hip. I m pretty sure that it is not muscular. After looking at hip structure diagrams, I would say it is in the area of my sacrotuberous ligament. This started a week ago after a workout and stretching session with the trainer at my gym. Ibuprofen takes some of the edge off and a heat pad feels good but doesn t seem to help much past the actual use of the hot pad. It is hard to find a comfortable position to lie in and sitting for any length of time will exacerbate it.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hip sprain or ligament injury in the hip is very common after stretching or severe workouts in gym. It takes a few weeks to months to heal depending on how severely it is injured. Taking proper rest, avoiding activities that aggravates the pain, applying ice pack, applying Diclofenac spray and taking muscle relaxant tablets helps to reduce the pain.
