How Can Pain Due To Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth Be Treated?
I am a 38 yr old male with hypothyroidism and high bp. i have had SIBO or small intestinal bacteria overgrowth since dec 2016. i have taken a z pack, cipro and flagyl, then xifaxan 550mg tid for 14 days. nothing gets rid of my constant stomach pressure and pain. is there anything else i can do to decrease my pain. I am also having diarrhea with blood in my stool. my family dr will only send me to a gi specialist who won t do anything but give me antibiiotics with no relief.
As your history says you have blood in stools, pain in stomach and pressure.
So this matter should not be left only to antibiotics. This is an emergency condition and we need to find the status of stomach mucosa, intestines.
I suggest you visit the emergency room. You need a proper evaluation. You may need ultrasound, endoscopy. Don't waste time, consuming antibiotics. It is after proper evaluation appropriate drug therapy can be initiated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Soheel Hussain Zargar,
Dentist
