Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Osteoarthritis is very common. Its pain can be controlled with minimum drugs. So I would suggest you start taking paracetamol 2 tablets every 6 hours. This is generally the first step to try. If it helps its great, however, if it does not work you can use some more pain medication. This may include adding opioids to it but that is always a doctor's job to advise which and how much should be used.

You can also use Hyaluronic acid which is available over-the-counter and give it a try for a month, if it helps then you should continue. If not then you better stop it, the most important thing is to lose weight if its over. Exercise does not produce a striking effect quickly, but may help you a lot. In a long run, those include strengthening the muscles of the hip joint. This can better be discussed with a physiotherapist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
