Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 5 year old daughter has had a very productive cough for about 2 weeks. She then started with a low grade fever 99 and stated she didn't feel well. Took her to CRNP and she diagnosed her with sinus infection and started eruthromiacin. One of her friends in daycare was diagnosed with pneumonia the same day. Cough is still loud and productive but she now has rosey cheeks. She does not feel feverish. Should I have her looked at again for possible pnemonia?
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. Highly unlikely to be pneumonia without fever. It could be an upper respiratory infection or lower respiratory infection secondary to viral illness. The tell tale sings of pneumonia are - high fever, fast breathing, inability to feed and altered sensorium. Rosy cheeks and loud cough are suggestive of viral lower respiratory illness. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome.
