How Can Numbness On The Thumb And Forefinger Be Treated?

I whacked my hand (palm side) on a metal handle and now my thumb, forefinger and middle finger are blue and numb. This has been going on for several weeks. I went to the Er and they said I have cellulitis and put me on an antibiotic. I am afraid that it is more serious than that.

Hello, Sir
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
I can certainly understand your concern
I have worked through your query in detail.

I can assure that there is nothing to worry if you get your sensation after subsiding cellulitis, as you have already started on antibiotics, but if you cant regain your sensations or still feel numbness after, it is advisable to go for nerve conduction test to rule any injury to radial nerve, which supplies thumb and index finger

Please check with your physician if he shares my view
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you
