How Can Necrotizing Fasciitis Behind The Neck Be Treated?
I have necrotizing fasciitis on my upper back neck area. The doctor put some packing in it and sent me home with antibiotics. There was no specific void for the pus it was just all over the place in the affected area the size of a silver dollar. He did not clean it out and it did not seem possible to do so. I did not like how he injected the numbing agent into to mass I didn t want the puss in my blood stream. Everywhere he poked pus came out. Anyway two days later I have a hole the size of a dime and it s getting larger. He said wait till the culture comes back to see what it is. I can see it s no good and the area needs to be removed maybe
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The description suggestive of extensive infection and thus we have to intervene at the earliest to avoid unwanted complications. Consult a general surgeon and get wound debridement done to remove all the pus and debris, it has to be done under anesthesia. We have to go for a pus culture and sensitivity to choose the best antibiotic for you. Make sure that your blood sugar level is well controlled.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain
