How Can Nasal Blockage In An Infant Be Treated?

My 1 yr old has a had a cold for a week now. He has had nasal blockage from all the boogers and now has developed pimples on his face. We took him to his dr. Last week and was told it was just a cold and would go away. But it is not getting better. Should we take him back in? Could this be something that now need antibiotics?

Hi,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son has symptoms of nasal blockage left side which could be due to nasal bone growth and it could be due to allergic rhinitis, nasal polyp and irritation of nasal lining.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you consult an ENT specialist for proper examination. The doctor may order a nasal swab test and blood tests to get a complete examination done. Sometimes symptoms got resolved with non-surgical means such as steroid nasal drops. Start giving steam inhalation to the child along with nasal saline rinses. For facial pimples avoid application of any cosmetic, just apply aloe vera gel as the skin of a child is sensitive.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
